What is a doujinshi?

Doujinshi is the Japanese term for amateur self-published works. They are often derivative of existing works, or in other words, they're fanworks about your favorite interests! They do not have to be professionally made. In fact, printing out the pages and stapling them yourself is encouraged. You may be more familiar with the term 'fanzines' and we will use the terms interchangeably.

No matter your art skill, doujinshi culture is a celebration of your interests. They can come in several forms. Fancomics, fanfiction, fan essays, whatever you feel is the best way to express your passion.

While a lot of doujinshi are focused on anime, manga, and video games, you are free to explore other topics as well! Do you have OCs you want to write a story about? Do you want to write an essay on your favorite birds? The sky is the limit!

Please note that doujinshi events are NOT focused on making profit.
